DESCRIPTION: APW - Elgin, Father Time with rare BLE (Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers) dial, Grade 252, 21J, 18S, nickel OF recase, white enamel DS dial with locomotive scene above center, "B L E" and a railroad style lantern within seconds-register, both the locomotive scene and the seconds-register markings with gold foil, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, nickel damascene, s#8833337. A rare and beautiful dial for the railroad watch collector.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous plates, scratch from escape wheel jewel setting extending to near the adjacent plate screw, remainder of mvt with some typical fine to micro-fine scratches and small surface nicks, some very minor bits of oxide to regulator assembly; excellent dial with short scratch near edge under 3, small edge chip and adjacent line of edge rub under bezel near 7:30; fine hands, minute with finish loss to spade and tip, seconds-hand with oxide; case shows light wear, scattered fine scratches, abrasions and dings, some marring to upper-left rear shoulder at reeding; misshapen bow pivots freely and has numerous surface mars, crown shows little wear and has some excess up/down and side-to-side play; good thick glass crystal.
